Holistic?

Well-being?

As we dive into the world of holistic health, we often reflect on its meanings—not by flipping through a dictionary, but by considering how it’s commonly understood.

Understanding Holistic Health and Well-Being

Coaching and holistic well-being spark many questions, especially regarding these concepts!

We felt it was vital to discuss these ideas. After all, how can we support you if the understanding of well-being and holistic health is a little sketchy?

While well-being has been a cornerstone for ages, the holistic approach is much newer yet incredibly significant.  Neither of these will reach full efficacy if there are roadblocks in unconscious patterns, behaviours, and habits.

At Nao Wellbeing, we’re passionate about these fundamental principles, which guide everything we do. Unlike the traditional health industry, which often overlooks aspects such as emotional connections, biofields, unconscious habits, or even nutrition! We believe in working with you - the whole person.

Remember, you are a multifaceted and multidimensional being, capable of transforming your health and lifestyle! Embark on the journey and embrace your holistic well-being!

Coaching

To most people, “coaching” means having someone in your corner who helps you get clear, stay accountable, and move forward. A coach is seen as part motivator, part guide — someone who helps you see what’s holding you back and reminds you what you’re capable of. It’s about having structured support while you make your own choices and changes.

The definition of coaching by the Australian Institute of Professional Coaches expands on the ICF definition by positioning coaching within a goal-oriented, solution-focused framework:

“Coaching is the process of working with individuals to help them achieve their life goals and create a more positive future. This involves facilitating self-awareness of issues and problems concerning them in their work and / or personal life, or goals to be achieved. It is a supportive and encouraging process that utilises clients’ existing knowledge and strengths to help them understand their current situation, broaden their horizon, be open to other possibilities and lead them towards effective, often creative, solutions to their problems.”

Holistic

Common understanding of “holistic” is to look at the whole picture — not just one problem or symptom. It’s the sense that your mind, body, and emotions are all connected, and what affects one part touches the others too. People often use it to describe a more natural, balanced, or rounded way of caring for themselves.

The meaning of Holistic is the belief that the parts of something are interconnected and can be explained only by reference to the whole. With the earliest known use of holistic dating back to the 1920s, a dramatic increase in use began to occur in the 1970s.

Well-being

“Well-being” is usually felt more than defined — it’s the ease of waking up and feeling okay in your own skin. It’s having enough energy, peace, and purpose to handle life’s ups and downs without feeling constantly drained. For many, it means living in a way that feels steady, content, and true to themselves, not just “getting by.”

The meaning of Well-being - With reference to a person or community: the state of being healthy, happy, or prosperous; physical, psychological, or moral welfare. The earliest use of well-being was noted way back in 1561 (according to the Oxford English Dictionary).
